Over the course of the 2016 election, many celebrities came out in favor of Hillary Clinton. Robert De Niro was unique, however, in that he said he’d like to punch Donald Trump in the face. Now, of course, that possibility seems much more far-fetched in the wake of Trump’s victory, as Jimmy Kimmel pointed out to De Niro on Wednesday night.

“I can’t do that now — he’s the president,” De Niro said. “And I have to respect that position, even though we all know what he, anyway. We have to see what he’s gonna do, and how he’s really gonna follow through on certain things. As we even see now, in a lot of cities, a lot of people are getting very upset and protesting.”

Sadly, he's being much more reasonable than most of his Hollywood brethren.

I couldn't care less about Hollywood lib political opinions including De Niro though I do appreciate his acting ability.

At least he realizes he should respect the position, even though it may be held by someone he opposes.

Is there any board left on this site that can spare political talk?

No one can take away the fact that he was a pretty good actor in the 70's.

Meh. Over the last couple of decades my opinion on his acting has lowered. I think he's a bit overrated.

De Niro and DiNardo have been irrelevant for about the same amount of time.

De Niro doesn't sound like such a tough guy now. Trump won't be president for another two months, why doesn't he give it a go?

This. Who the hell are these people and why should we give a rat's arse?

They don't even live in our universe.
