Yea all they are looking for is tits. You sound like an idiot right now. You have no clue who they have contacted for one. You also are just assuming whoever it is won't have a passion for the project. Your whole OP and your response is a bunch of cry baby garbage that sounds straight out of body building forums bitch about women threads.

It's just not good news when the first thing they look for are female genitalia and not a resume

Again, the Russo Bros had done nothing with big special effects before Winter Soldier. You, Me and Dupree was their biggest movie. Most of their work had been on TV shows like Arrested Development and Community. That really isn't a big time resume and they were able to make one of the best flicks in the MCU.

This is hand wringing over nothing.

This may be the first time that I will legitimately get upset over a staffing decision fom DC. This is political correctness to the max at the expense of quality filmmaking.

I agree. It is of no question that Wonder Woman is one of the seminal figures for feminism and empowering women in American culture, but most should be reminded that the overall message of WW was created by a man (along with his wife and mistress) and spoke to equality and love. To sacrifice quality simply because of gender is counter-intuitive to the characters origins. That said, it would be a great thing if they found the right woman who could deliver a great product.

I watched the canceled WW pilot with Adrianne Palicki and saw some promise, she was edgy(if not bichy)
far less than politically correct and seemed to even have a mean streak.

ah well, fricking hollywood.

There was no promise at all in the pilot except for some of the fight sequences IMO. David E. Kelley completely missed on the character and pretty much put out a bipolar combination of Xena and Ally McBeal. It was laughable on a lot of levels.

This comment makes me suspect of your fail judging abilities. The pilot was really bad.

I said "promise",, I liked the fact that she was bitchy and not syrupy like the Lynda Carter version.

the "F/X" were never completed in the pilot and you could see some cables, but the fight choreography showed a little promise too.

Do you have any idea how stupid of a fricking argument you're making is? Maybe they had one hell of a vision they pitched to Marvel, knew a lot about the source material, and they trusted them with it? Like saying you shouldn't trust Lord of the Rings with a low budget horror director or a sci fi film with a guy who made a comedy about growing up in the 60s, despite their knowledge and passion of the material.

All DC wants is someone with a pussy and tits, and doesn't give a shite if the person who is most passionate and qualified to bring the material to the big screen is a male. It reminds me of when Shyamalan white washed Airbender, accused of being racist, then put every race possible in the film, and then it came off as even more racist. They're trying so hard on not being sexist in a genre known for being fairly sexist, that they are coming across as being more sexist in the process.

Agreed.

The comic book is a genre that objectifies women to the max ad it's been that way since its creation and they damn well know that a femme director still won't change shite in this regard. So why not just go along with what makes this genre work and pick the most qualified and competent show runner available and let the dice fall where they fall?

Well here are the finalists: LINK

quote:

According to Forbes, the list includes Catherine Hardwick (Twilight, Red Riding Hood), Mimi Leder (Deep Impact, The Leftovers), Julie Taymor (The Tempest, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Karyn Kusama (Aeon Flux, Jennifer's Body), Emmy winner Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead), Tricia Brock (The Walking Dead, Community), and Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker).

You heard right. The very first person mentioned directed Twilight and Red Riding Hood and is being targeted for this. Until Michelle MacLaren, all of those are absolute shite choices for directors (even if I'm not so sure about her).

So Dr RC, do you still stand by your post, or have you realized this is a sexist project with no intention of finding the person most qualified for the job?

The DC Universe I think is going to go down as the worst managed major film project in history and it's been an absolute debauchery from the start.

Only about two of those are decent choices.

Just who the frick is running Warner Brothers and pushing this politically correct bullshite?

Even Kathryn Bigelow, as good as she is, I don't think anyone has thought to themselves while watching her movies "Man she could do a great superhero movie". I'm guessing they wanted at least one Oscar winning director on that line-up, so they went with the only woman on that list.

I wonder why they haven't considered Lauren Montgomery who directed the animated Wonder Woman? Of course her specialty is animation, but she always delivers a well paced product with a nice mix of action and dialogue IMO. Live action is just animation using real people in my opinion and that is one of the qualities I think she might share with Zak Snyder, as lots of moments in his films seem beautifully painted if not animated with computers.

Lauren Montgomery would be more qualified than any of them. She's into the mythos, she can create strong female characters, can show a great universe, and can mix humor and tension. These others, can't say the same.

There is nothing that they could announce about this movie that wouldn't have people pissing and moaning in here.

I like Michelle MacLaren as well. But the least they could've done is come up with some better options outside of maybe 2-3 on that list.

Those are not "finalists". Those are directors that Warner is reportedly interested in hiring. The report didn't name it as a final list, you did.

But then you don't give a shite about the truth. You just want to bitch.
