DC Animated: Batman and Harley Quinn

Synopsis:
Batman and Nightwing join forces with Harley Quinn to stop a global threat brought about by Poison Ivy and the Plant Master.
This is the newest release by the DC Animated Studio and it's a unique one.
Animation:
The animation itself is pretty much a throwback to the Batman: TAS years. I liked the character design and the action sequences were pretty well done. Overall, I think the classic design worked.
Story:
The story is overly simply as far as the villains are concerned, but then again, it isn't really about Poison Ivy and her plans. It's all about Harley.
Characters:
This is where the movie deviates from the previous ones. It's more humor, debauchery, and crude. Harley is a combination of the Batman: TAS jokester and the Harley from the Arkham Asylum movie. Batman is more humorous in this one and Nightwing is kinda the springboard for Harley's crude jokes.
Honestly, it isn't for kids. Sex jokes, cursing, blood sprays, etc.
It feels like Adam West's campy Batman universe with crude humor.
My score: 7.5/10
It gets a higher score than it probably deserved because of its uniqueness. I wasn't expecting it to be the overall "joke" that it turned out to be.
I would recommend watching it for anyone who is interested. Just go in expecting one big Harley Quinn joke and you'll enjoy it.

Bruce Timm has lost his fricking marbles with the intent to be relevant again. Between JL Gods and Monsters, The Killing Joke, and this one he seems to have lost his way...at least IMO.

I liked Gods and Monsters. Still haven't seen Killing Joke, but I heard it was bad.
Most of the products are at least "ok".

This one is definitely different than most of the other DC animated movies. A lot more attempts at humor, even bathroom humor. I thought it was ok (not great, but ok). It was definitely a change of pace. And at least Grayson got him some, per usual.
ETA: And I liked the nod to addressing why not bring in the Justice League if the whole world is in danger.

He's been putting his name to some horrible productions. I liked Gods and Monsters, but that was an alternate reality.
People seem to disregard Timm's current work when they ask for him to take over the DCEU. What they really want is Timm from the 90's and 2000's.

Regardless I don't think Timm would do anything dumb enough to launch the DCEU with "The Dark Knight Returns" and "The Death of Superman".

To be fair though, his "current work" consists of what, 3 animated movies and a web series? The biggest issue I have with his current work was his insistence on Bruce Wayne and Barbara Gordon having sex (which actually tied back to his "old work" with Batman Beyond). But Gods and Monsters was pretty good, and while this one wasn't awesome, it was at least a shot at something different.
But with that said, I have never been one that has wanted Bruce Timm to take over the DCEU. Plus, the current supervising producer of the DCAU, James Tucker, has been doing a really good job in my opinion. I've loved the Batman/Robin (Damian Wayne) movies, the new JL movies, the Teen Titan movies, and how he tied them all together. And the stand alone Batman: Assault on Arkham was really good also.

Is it in BTAS/New Batman Adventures continuity or did they just borrow the art style?

It could be in the continuity. Harley cracks on Dick for once sporting a mullet, which he had in that continuity. Also the Batmobile and Batwing are the same, so is Harley's outfit. But I'm not sure if we can know for sure based solely on the movie.

I love the idea that there are still stories to tell in that universe between BTAS/New Adventures-JLU-Beyond. It's such a beloved universe, and I'd love for them to continue building it.

Well, to pique your interest, the next animated movie is Gotham by Gaslight.

In an alternative Victorian Age Gotham City, Batman begins his war on crime while he investigates a new series of murders by Jack the Ripper.

Seeing that its not real stories can be spun in any direction.

Recently watched this and it was terrible IMO. The club scene with Harley singing was just bad. Also Arleen Sorkin should always do Harley's voice work.
