Dazed and Confused is on VH1 right now. The cable company's one-sentence descriptor on the guide says this:
"Teens waste another day in 1976 Austin,TX".

Is that the best one-line descriptor they could come up with?

What booming metropolis are you from?

No, it's not Austin. It was filmed outside Austin, however.

It's about Richard Linklater's hometown, Huntsville.

My description says

"One the last day of school in 1975, incoming freshman are hazed by the new seniors, and everyone searches for a good time while contemplating life and love"

I'm guessing nobody caught the "piss ant" play on words from the movie"

Wasn't Wiley Wiggens aka Mitch Kramer discovered in a bar in Austin and asked to play this role?

sidebar: favorite sports unofficial nickname is when (I think it's Van Pelt) calls Tim Lincecum Mitch Kramer.

"Texas teens enjoy the Summer of '76 while Ben Affleck gives the best performance of his pre-Batman career."

That and The Stoned Age, and you've seen the penultimate 70's and 80's burn out movies. D and C is slightly more based in reality though.
