Went last month.

It's a fun thing to do once but I doubt I'd go back. Takes up a lot of your day besides just the hour or so you film. Be attractive and enthusiastic and you'll get better seats.

It is really cool to see it all go down in person but you'll likely have an obstructed due to cameras and they try to force you to laugh at everything.

Hope for a cool guest.

Do you have to win them to go, or can you buy them in advance?

I went a few years ago with my wife. It was pretty fun. You have to line up a few hours early that day. They then process everyone and give you about an hour and a half break.

They recommend hanging out at a bar around the corner, The Three Monkeys, which was a pretty solid bar.

When you get back, you have to wait a while, and the crew will talk to people and get everyone excited and geared up for the show. It is a little cold in the theater which I think is pretty typical of shows like that.

The show was pretty cool to see. I was surprised at how small the set was, but thought the same thing when I have seen sets for Conan, Jimmy Fallon, etc...

No real tips, except to be on time. There will be a line outside the theater, and I think they give you a number for the spot you are supposed to be in.

It is a fun experience.

I went two years ago. Get there early. The theater is a lot smaller than you think. If you can, go during Christmas time and check out the tree at Rockefeller Center.

I went to the web site to register for free tickets

They called me today and asked me a trivia question (what instrument does paul Schaffer play)

I got that right so I won 2 free tickets to the second taping next thur dec 19th( they tape 2 shows on Thursday, 1 for Thursday and 1 for Friday, so the show Im going to will air Friday dec 20)

The guy said I need to pick up the tickets from 3:30-4:30

If I'm 1 min late they will go to some one in the stand by line

That's the second way to get tickets

Stand in line all day and hope people don't show up

You apply for a date and then if you get chosen they call you and ask a question. You have to get it right. I don't think tickets are that tough to get though. I think a lot of days they wander through times square recruiting a full audience.

The dude was pretty adamant about if I was gonna show up so I guess they get a lot of no shows

I got some off the street day of the taping. I had a fairly fun time. No tips. You've got tickets. Get there early for better seats.

I went back in 2001. Best I can remember is that I signed up for tickets on line and won a couple. When you get there, be sure to wear something to tell where you're from and you get good seats. Dave will recognize folks up front and even make fun at times.

The night I went was not a great show. Edward Norton was the guest and was really drab and boring. Not entertaining at all. And the musical guest was some chick named Dido.

My brother was able to get tickets a few years back. He was pretty excited until he found out that Courtney Love was the "star" guest.

Talk about shitty luck
