I guess it's too much realism. I like my superheroes to kick arse. It'd be ok if 6 guys whipped him, but there have been several fights one on one where he got handled, or at least had a tough time.
Karen is ugly. She has terrible skin. Nice figure but the moles are a killer.

I just finished the season. I've been a DD fan since I was a kid, and I'm very happy with this version of him. I LIKE that he doesn't win every fight. Have any of you ever been in a real fight? It's extremely rare to have a one punch knockout, even for trained professionals. I love the realism.
And yes, Matt does get whipped pretty bad in some one on one fights, but it's towards the end of the series when he's not even close to full capacity. He's worn out, beat up, and near the end of his rope. But, like his old man, he doesn't stay down.
I'm not crazy about the costume, I actually liked the Affleck version better. But hey, it may grow on me.
And lastly, I'm sorry guys, but it's true, Karen is NOT very attractive. Her body is decent, but I can see her loading on pounds if she isn't careful. And the moles! Lord, they're everywhere. There's a scene in one of the last episodes where she's wearing something sleeveless and she's got a big ole melanoma in her armpit
She's benefitting from the "she's the love interest and on TV so she must be hot" syndrome. If you saw her on campus you wouldn't bat an eye.
Now Rosario Dawsom on the other hand

Well I'm not a superhero so that seems irrelevant to the discussion

I thought she was pretty damn hot.

She's hot if you don't look too close. But how can anyone ignore the moles and warts on her face?
I don't mind if DD gets beat up once in a while but it's ridic how many punches he takes in one-on-one fights.
Foggy is such a puss. Totally unrealistic reaction to learning DD's identity, then he mopes like a pouting child about it. Grating.
The horns on the costume suck but I realize that's from the comic. Still could've done without those.

He really was a terrible casting choice. He's awful.

Maybe not just his casting, but his reaction. I don't know anyone who would act like he does when he learns DD's identity. Is his character based on a comic storyline? Bc the little feud between he and Murdock seemed lame and unnecessary.

Not only do I think Foggy's reaction is realistic, it is entirely correct. If your friend had betrayed your trust to that degree, you would be just that pissed. I think the Foggy-Matt episode is the best of the series precisely because that's how people would actually act.

Is there anything you don't like about the show? It will save us a lot of time

I think the finale was a bit weak. The metaphor of the white painting was a bit on the nose. It was one thing when the painting represented lonelieness, but no, it literally represented the wall he stared at. I think the killed off too many good characters going forward (I'll miss Owsley).
I'm against fridging in general, as its lazy writing, so fridging a guy for a woman's growth does invert the trope, but it's still lazy, and robbed Ben of his agency. I don't think Karen and Matt have all that much chemistry yet Foggy and Karen do, yet clearly the show is going to make Matt/Karen a couple and marginalize Night Nurse, who Matt DID have chemistry with.
They softened Jack Murdock's story, as he used to break fingers for the mob, too, but that would make him too unlikeable for the show. Also, his decision to throw the fight was incredibly selfish and in now way noble, despite how the show portrays it. I think the line Matt draws on murder is pretty arbitrary, as he's perfectly willing to torture people and drop them off roofs. The no kill rule doesn't really withstand scrutiny, and its a copy of Batman anyway.
Still, I think the show is probably the best thing Marvel has done short of Winter Solider and the Avengers. It gets me very excited for AKA Jessica Jones, as Alias is one of my all time favorite comics, and I'm curious if they will have a character who knows he's on a TV show just as the comic had a character who knew he was in a comic, and obliterated the fourth wall. And they better not chicken out on the Cage/Jones love story (though it would be awesome if they could get Paul Rudd to guest star for an episode or two).
