Lord Love a Duck
A status-obsessed high school girl meets a mysterious stranger with the power to grant her wishes.
Bizarre satire of '60s pop culture, lampooning everything from progressive education to beach party movies. Written and directed by screenwriter George Axelrod (Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Manchurian Candidate) it has as many misses as hits but is worth seeing for those willing to try something offbeat.
Starring Roddy McDowell and the gorgeous Tuesday Weld, along with Ruth Gordon and Harvey Korman as the HS principal. But the most memorable performance is by the all-but-unknown (to me anyway) Donald Murphy, as a religious guidance counselor. He even gets the film's funniest line, in the anarchic climax.

Thanks for the alert. 1:30am here, so I'm going to record it.

Got around to watching it last night. You can see how it got it's cult status. Loved the whole perverse sweater buying scene with daddy! Reminded me of another 60s cult flick that came out a few years earlier, Kitten with a Whip; with a lot less violence of course.
I always have enjoyed Tuesday Weld in all the movies I've seen her in and thought her a talented actress, The Cincinnati Kid, Pretty Poison, I Walk the Line, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Who'll Stop the Rain, Thief, Once Upon a Time in America. She probably would have been bigger had she went the more mainstream route in her film selection but I'm glad she didn't.
