If you can finish Storm of Swords by the time Season 4 starts, you'll be very pleased to see what's in store for this season.

That's the goal. Just hope I don't get burned out on them.

I don't dislike him, and feel bad for him obviously. But Bran's story just puts me to sleep.

Don't worry, in time he becomes one of the most powerful characters.

I have never heard anyone say a bad thing about Storm of Swords.

Well it better happen early on in WoW. His vision quest with the three eyed crow is pretty much a snoozefest. He'd better warg into a dragon and start fricking up some Freys really quick.

I view his chapters like Brienne's, yes they are boring but are essential. He uses their stories to tell us about other things (Rat Cook, the Night's King, Sandor being alive, Blackfyre Rebellion, smiling knight...)

Bran's chapters were some of my favorites because of the tales and prophecies. His story on the show is kinda boring because they don't show bran or Jojeen's dreams or when Bran wargs into his dire wolf.

But I really enjoyed Brans chapters. Probably my 3rd most liked POV chapters behind Jon Snow and Cercei

I was wondering, do you have to be a Targ to ride dragons or can it be anyone?

Not all of the ancient Velaryons were Targs and there were plenty of dragon riding families there. Some tie to Valyria does seem necessary though. I'm not sure if they can be warged or not, but I am sure we will certainly find out.

Update from the Littlefinger Facebook page:

quote:

Many of you still wait for the trailer. I do too.

Contrary to the belief of some people that are posting, I am not the person that makes the trailer. I do not edit it. I cannot make it magically appear from nowhere.

I receive information from my sources and share it with you. I am a messenger.

I have reached them to see why wasn't it posted online yet. The response is that HBO decided to wait for next Sunday night, December 22nd. A week later than anticipated. After the episode "Sunset on Louisianne" of the show Treme. It could also air after the season finale "... To Miss New Orleans" a week later, December 29th.

Any confirmation on these dates and if it's announced that they will show it earlier, you will hear it from me. With the respective link.

Thank you.

So be on the lookout on December 22nd.

I found most of Brienne's early chapters to be boring, but her last 2 or 3 are very important. I actually enjoyed putting two and two together and coming to the conclusion that Sandor is the Gravedigger and that Rorge stole his helm to do the Saltpans sack.

Oh and the last Brienne chapter with Stoneheart is a huge cliffhanger.

Storm of Swords is by far my favorite book in the series. Finished it in about a week during Christmas break a couple years ago

I read ASoS 6 months ago within a 2 week period. I finished it while I was on the beach in Destin.

I remember after I read the Red Viper getting killed Tyrion POV chapter, my thoughts were: "shite! Can't stop reading!" and my friends wanted me to go in the gulf but I was like nope, have to finish.

That's a great question, there were non-Targ dragonriders, but that was pre-Doom. All of the non-Targaryen dragons died. So all of the dragons left were from that bloodline. So if those bloodlines are only joined w/ Targaryens, I don't expect to see anyone but Targaryens riding the 3 Dany has.

And that beings me to my point. At the beginning of the series there were 3 definitive Targs, Viserys, Maester Aemon, and Dany. Dany is the only one left.

Then there is Faegon and R+L=Jon Snow, who would have the Targ dragon blood.

After them there are the Martells, who through the first Dany gained some dragon blood. However, Quentin was burned to a crisp and couldn't relate to the dragons, and that does bode well for them.

Lastly there is Stannis and his daughter who have dragon blood through a Targ princess that was their great-great grandmother. This dynamic is also untested.

A Storm of Swords is one of my favorite books of all-time regardless of genre.

I believe that a connection to Valyria is extremely helpful obviously, but I am of the opinion that anyone can ride a dragon, provided the dragon likes that person, just as the dragons have shown that even a Targaryen can be denied the saddle if that particular dragon doesn't approve of said Targaryen.

Same here; it's my favorite book of all-time, then again I'm still really young to say otherwise.
