"Meg"

quote:

Five years ago, expert sea diver and Naval Captain Jonas Taylor encountered an unknown danger in the unexplored recesses of the Mariana Trench that forced him to abort his mission and abandon half his crew. Though the tragic incident earned him a dishonorable discharge, what ultimately cost him his career, his marriage and any semblance of honor was his unsupported and incredulous claims of what caused it - an attack on his vessel by a mammoth, 70-foot sea creature, believed to be extinct for more than a million years. But when a submersible lies sunk and disabled at the bottom of the ocean - carrying his ex-wife among the team onboard - he is the one who gets the call. Whether a shot at redemption or a suicide mission, Jonas must confront his fears and risk his own life and the lives of everyone trapped below on a single question: Could the Carcharodon Megalodon - the largest marine predator that ever existed - still be alive ... and on the hunt?

Shark eating man movies are my weakness. Syfi channel or big budget, I don't care. I'm in.

am interested to watch, but dang...has Hollywood ever been so low on originality? Blake Lively...shark. Mandy Moore...shark. Jason Statham...shark. from the little I've read Hollywood has been hemorrhaging money for some time now? Aside from the gigantic budget popcorn flicks of Michael bay and all the comic book movies, you'd think they try to spark up some new material. I'm not saying get rid of the popcorn flicks in their entirety, but maybe space them out longer, lower the production budgets, and increase the quality of the stories. in an era of streaming and in home media capabilities I doubt theaters stand a chance in the next generations.

One of my favorite book series back in highschool. I'm pumped that it's not being done on a sci-fi channel budget

I'm not suggesting they don't make money. I'm just being a picky movie critic. Shallows = hot girl stuck on a rock while shark stalks her. 47 Meters = hot girls trapped in cage while sharks stalk them. Meh. I know Hollywood is all about money. If The Shallows wasn't as successful as it was financially, I'd be skeptical to think these next two shark movies would get the studios' attention they have.

But to keep the post about the thread, Meg does actually look like it has a good back story to it and I think Statham can do a kick arse job. Ruby Rose won't be too bad to look at either.

There is overkill and then there's sharks.

Just the last 10 years.

Shark week
Sharknado
Shark Night 3D
Sand Sharks
Avalanche Sharks
2-Headed Shark Attack
3-Headed Shark Attack
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus
Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus
Malibu Shark Attack
The Reef
Swamp Shark
Ghost Shark
Open Water 2
Shark Swarm
Bait
Dark Tide
Sharktopus
Super Shark
Soul Surfer
The Shallows
Jersey Shore Shark Attack

There have been more movies about a shark than any other animal.

In the 1970's in cinema, bees were nature's terror...in the 2000's it's been sharks.

I beg to differ. Throughout the 80's there must have been over 1000 films with the weasel

ive never seen soul surfer but from my understanding its not really a shark movie (unless there is another version somewhere ) its based on teen surfer Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm in a tiger shark attack. So other than scene being included in the film its not a shark movie if Soul Surfer and Open Water are shark movies you might as well include Ivan Reitman's My Super Ex Girlfriend - I believe theres a shark scene in that one. or Lethal Weapon 3 - that also has a shark scene . every movie with a shark scene doesn't qualify as a shark movie. just like people classifying the Alamo as a western because of John Wayne. its not

I read those books forever ago. Pretty cheesy but still fun. I expect the movie to be even worse
