I grew up during the Tom Baker era. PBS showed the episodes on Friday nights. Thankfully they showed the whole story and not just separate episodes like Sci-Fi channel did when Sci-Fi first started.

The New Orleans PBS station was pretty regular with Tom Baker episodes but with the popularity increase in Doctor Who, I guess the price went up.

I think they showed most if not all of the Davison era but I don't think they showed Colin Baker or McCoy era episodes on a regular basis because of the price increases.

I've always wanted to revisit classic who and my journey has begun. I noticed Hulu has the full run of episodes that survived the BBC purge.

I'm not going to go all the way back to surviving Hartnell and Throughton episodes. I've decided to start with Pertwee through McCoy if I make it that far.

I'll give a very brief summation of the episodes. No full scale Terra Nova style rants. Maybe for particularly bad episodes.

Out the gate, I am having a tough time watching Hulu with the commercials. Not sure I can binge watch a show on Hulu.

I grew up with Tom Baker as well. He was the best Doctor.

Well, I was wrong. When I compare the old series versus the new series, I always say I liked how the older series had more time to flesh out the story.

Maybe it worked better in the Baker - McCoy years but not the Pertwee years.

Lots and lots and lots of padding. Doctor gets caught, he escapes. His companion gets caught, then doctor gets caught again, he and the companion escape. Doctor, companion and local villager all get caught. They all escape and thwart the evil plan.

That is the basic outline of every episode. In some instance, I think they get caught and released a few more times.

I was a fan of the Master in the Baker era. Haven't liked how he/she has been used in the new who. Giving the master super powers was downright laughable.

Also not a real fan of the master in the Pertwee era. He had a whole season. Every planet or location the doctor ended up going, the master was there. Master overkill.

I haven't hated the Pertwee era, but also haven't loved it. I've got one Pertwee season left.
