So add in plane tickets for 10-15 people.

I doubt he was talking really to everyone. Probably just his parents and in-laws. No way in hell was he going to have Uncle Lewis and Aunt Bethany back, and probably not Eddie and his family either, hence the "I know that Eddie". Just really 4 people, which is a small family. Doesn't make him loaded to afford that.

Yeah, not saying it's gospel it's just something I remember hearing years back. Would have made sense in early drafts, but not the story we have come to know.

I'm not so sure. He didn't hesitate to buy not only groceries for Eddie, but also Christmas presents for the kids. And once he got that bonus he was in the giving mood. There's no reason to think he wouldn't be inviting everyone out to the pool (outside of Lewis and Bethany, I think it's fair to omit them).

And I'm not saying that's some huge sum of money, but it's prolly at least a couple grand or so. And we are talking specifically about the bonus...not if he's loaded enough to afford it.

I mean, Clark cares about Eddie and his family, but he clearly doesn't enjoy his presence throughout the film. I think he will fly Eddie and his family down now due to Eddie securing an increased bonus for him as a thank you to him, but if he just got his bonus per the norm, I doubt once time passed that he'd remotely consider flying Eddie down for it.

I bet he would fly him somewhere else though.

I'm not sure Eddie would let him forget that for a second.

And Clark would justify it as doing it for the kids so they could come enjoy the pool with their cousins. Then he'd be pissed when his fantasy Phoebe Cates lookalike got out of the pool and had a gross, oily sheen all over her skin due to Rocky's hair gel. Merry Christmas, pool filter was clogged...

McAllister's could afford this place AND afford to take the entire family to Paris for Christmas.

I wonder what Mr. McAllister did for a living. Dude was rolling in it.

I always wondered how much the bonus had to be for an extra 20% to make him pass out. Even if it was $20,000, that's not that much more.

He revolutionized the entire food industry inventing a lifelong food preservative that would literally increase profits of all perishable and non-perishable food processing companies almost infinitely right?

You'd think he get a huge bonus.

And yet his boss calls him Mark.

It seems like he's out of the inner-circle of higher-ups.

This is the best thread I've read in a good while on this site.

I thought he invented a coating that made cereal stay crunchy after milk is poured over it. If he had invented a lifelong food preservative, wouldn't he actually be decreasing profits? Maybe Mr Shirley doesn't like him because he doesn't see the big picture. They pay him to put bandaids on stuff, not actually fix the problem altogether.
