the article also says depp has been tabbed to play the riddler and I haven't seen that anywhere besides people speculating.

Cher did win an Academy Award once and was nomitated for another, which is better than a lot of Hollywood actors today. I trust Nolan, and if he sees her as catwoman than she might be a good choice.

That article is nothing more than speculation. There's no script yet, and there's probably no story, either. It's way too early to be talking about casting for the next one, when you don't even know which characters will be in the movie.
Nolan is already on record as saying he didn't want to use Catwoman in any of his movies.
