Good movie. I've watched it three times now and have developed a deeper appreciation after each viewing.
However, what is the mumble shite on the dialog? Its obviously by design because its in all his movies. My thought is that he may think it adds to the authenticity. Its a movie. I'd like to hear what people have to say.
"My heat lies in the shlla meto of th meto bubls. As myslf, wt do plan dal of pepen? It dnt make sns."

Little known fact. Nolan is from Baton Rouge

It's my favorite movie ever. It hits every point I enjoy in a movie. Science, Space, Mathematics, Score, Love Story, etc.
I don't care what the movie nerds on this board think either.

Totally random: the financial wrangling over Interstellar had repercussions for South Park in that part of the deal between Paramount and WB involved WB getting rights to co-produce any future South Park movies.

(edit) What took some time for me for deeper appreciation is to understand the theoretical science he put in the plot. It was hard to follow originally. That's not my bag.

Movies like this I watch at home a second time with AirPods
I didn't hear half of Dune in the theater.

I've always enjoyed it. Watching it in Imax was awesome. I wish I could do that again.

Same here
The docking scene is probably the most well made piece of cinema I've ever witnessed

This is a take I haven't seen yet on Interstellar. I saw it three times in the theater, once in 70mm (true) IMAX, and didn't have any issues with dialog.
My controversial take is that Dr. Mann was cast perfectly in Matt Damon.

It was mostly McConaughey(sp?). Small complaint.
I think its been established that Damon and Affleck can easily play these types. Must be in the water in the St. Charles.

I don’t think that’s controversial.
The idea of that character was incredible. A “villain” that only really represents human nature and Damon nailed it

It’s one of my two qualms with the film. I personally think Dr Mann should have been played by Bryan Cranston who can come off as nonthreatening and affable one second to terrifying and horrific on a dime. I don’t buy that Matt Damon could convince 12 other people to go on a suicide mission with him, but I do buy it from Walter White.
The other is they should have had a better excuse to go down to the water planet first, and it could be just as simple as the scientist down there finding algae and it’s atmosphere was nearly perfectly synced with the Earth of old. Common sense would say first go the Mann’s, then Brandt’s lovers, and the water planet last since that just burns up tons of time.
EDIT: Also third qualm: Cooper sending himself there. That creates a paradox. He could still send Murph the codes that she solves later as well as the STAY message, but he could not have given himself the coordinates to NASA since he wouldn’t have been there in the first place. Just have the planned original pilot of the mission die of something and Cooper is now the only guy that can fly the craft.

This may have been the point, but he’s just too cowardly of a worm for me to take him seriously in the context of the movie. I just don’t buy him with Damon being cast as him.

quote:See, I'll have to watch again because I didn't pick up the specifics of the 12 person team on Mann's planet. It makes sense typing it out as a comment, but I didn't quite get that.

That whole esipode of scenes on Mann's planet is just a chest-punch. Mann has been alone on a planet for a generation(?). I'm not clear exactly when he started falsifying data, but he seems to state he knew the planet was not habitable from the first week he was there. He's been in isolation and all of a sudden people show up. He even says he didn't set a wake-up date for his sleep.
I'll probably watch it a few more times.

No, the 12 went to other planets.

Saw it in IMAX and sat there for a while afterward just soaking in what I just saw.
