So whenever we were kids and played star wars, I would always pick Han and my brother was Luke, and that was our choice. And when I think back on all of the previous movies, I've just been bored with any Jedi heavy parts of them. Dagobah I would always fast forward through, the end of Jedi I'd typically do the same between the space and Endor battles. It sounds strange since the force and Jedi is almost the core of the Star Wars universe. But I've never cared for it. Give me the blaster battles and X-wing fights.
So after watching the trailer tonight, I told my friend that I'm anticipating being uninterested in what I expect to be 50% of this movie. I could be dead wrong and be on board all the way, but I don't feel the Rey/Luke scenes are going to keep me awake.
Hope I'm mistaken.

Really, because the Han scene with the space monster in TFA was the worst part of the movie.

I'll take that over 2 hours of "focus your mind".

Dagobah was the essence of the entire star wars universe

Although the Rathtars are over the top and excessive, they were just a device to move the main points of this entire scene along, which were pretty pivotal in developing the characters.
In that one chaotic sequence alone, the bond between Finn and Rey was coalesced when she rescued him, we were shown the power of Chewy's bowcaster which was important later in understanding Kylo Ren's injury and duel with Rey, and they all ended up on the Falcon wher Han could see for himself how technically gifted Rey was for bypassing the compressor.

quote:those are some of the most interesting scenes in the entire series. they took the abstract and vague concept introduced in the first movie and added to that mythology in a substantive way and adding to its mysterious nature even while fleshing out the concept.
Dagobah I would always fast forward through
the jedi weren't boring in the OT, they were boring creepy monks with pederast vibes in the prequels which in my mind do not exist. nothing about the force was visual it was all boring exposition and on top of that, the ideas were terrible. lucas pretty much killed the mystery of it all and what made it such a pop culture phenomenon. this trilogy seems to be attempting to make the force mysterious again.
