A large part of this series is prophecy and fate. Martin has said that he likes the idea of prophecy showing up in unexpected ways. You think that prophecy says one thing, but it is really much more subtle than that. Like say you are prophesied to die on a boat, but you really die in an inn named after a boat. You try to avoid boats, but your avoidance just pushes you towards your fate. The Hodor/hold the door thing is an example of this. Kind of clever, and I really liked it.

Bran is prophesied for great things. Making the mistake of being touched by the Night King is part of his fate, and it will push him towards the next place that he needs to be.

As far as the books, Brienne has some awful awful chapters before the last that we see of her.

Wtf

Her Feast chapters are amazing. Killing the brave companions, confronting ser hyle, killing rorge, meeting lady stoneheart, realizing just how much in love she in with jaime.

And one of the most emotional moments in the series when she spills out her life story to the elder brother. It was hard for me to read that part.

Jon Arryn was onto it before any of this happened. Robert was killed because Nedd was close to the truth. It was going to happen regardless.

i have 50+ down votes in the hodor thread for saying he has the worst storyline in the show.

There's a reason you have 50+ down votes. Ice zombies and their mysterious motivations, battles with those ice zombies, psychic abilities, time travel, magic elves, magic trees, magic locations, friendship sacrifices, mysterious good ice zombie riding elk, checking out the Nightfort, filling in historical backstory, witnessing the greatest sword fight in the history of Westeros, etc.

I know we're all entitled to our own opinions, because opinions by their very definition are subjective. But some opinions are just hard to understand. That's why you have 50 down votes.

I know right? Why couldn't Bran just listen to his mom. Then, we wouldn't have this loooonnnngg arse story to worry about.

Bran IS the 3 eyed Raven helping his younger self..

That makes Bran one of the most badass characters in the series.

ZERO chance that happens in an actual circumstance and leaves just a ridiculous hole in the series

Fairly certain that dragons, 400 year old hot women, and zom ie ice killers have ZERO chance of happening too.

I'm already dreading how annoyed I'm gonna be about whatever the writers use as the rationale behind how Bran escaped. It's going to make no sense and be incredibly unbelievable.

You're complaining about the believability of a show where humans can time travel through tree trunks?
