Boards opinion of Naruto?

A friend recommended it to me. The only cartoons/anime I have watched in the past 5-6 years has been Avatar and DBZ so I'm sort of new to anime
However, I have to say I'm impressed so far, any other recommendations?

The manga is badass. Aside from all the fillers, the show is badass as well. Might fricking Guy!

Huge anime recommendation list
Naruto is a very popular series for good reason. There IS a bit of a dropoff in part 2(shippuden) though.
Stop after you get to ep 135 because the last 90 eps are non canon filler. Ep 135 is basically the ending to part 1 and you can jump straight into shippuden Ep 1.
