This and Arcane are high on my list.

Damn I didn’t realize they were making another season of Arcane. Looks like it comes out in November. That’s awesome.

I kind of assumed it was more of a “limited series” but I guess it’s not surprising given how popular it was.

Hell of a cliffhanger they left off with Arcane, so at least we'll get a pay off on that. Which is nice.

I wonder if she has a white mother. Could be explained by the blue eyes. Fowler sure did know who she was as a baby.

So she is going to London? How the heck is that boat going to get over there? I bet they don't even have any navigation maps for the world in Japan at the time

THe ending confrontation with Fowler was really good. She wanted to kill him so badly yet he played his trump card.

Episode 5. Damn. That was tough to watch. Totally broke her. Also makes it more plausible that the maid was indeed the sellout, not her husband.

More likely the 4 known white men in Japan after the isolation were the father than some random white female.

If Europeans made it to Japan, there's no reason to believe a return trip was impossible. This was the 17-1800's, after all. Folks were coming to Western USA from China and Japan by then, if not well before.

I believe it is set in the early to mid 1600s.

Noted the Edo Period started in 1603 and that this was a few decades later.

Even so, if Europeans were coming to Japan by then, there's no reason ships couldn't return to England. If not entirely by ship, at least part of the way. Japan IS an island nation, after all. As is Britian.

Oh, I agree. Just pointing out the period.

Guessing we'll have split storyline in Season 2 (with Misu in her location and the aftermath in Edo).

Spoilerish speculation below:

I do believe that the end of this will likely be her finding the White man that is her father and she will find he is not the monster she imagined (will have a wife [Misu's mother], family [blue-eyed "halfbreed" siblings] and will be the one that saved her from being killed).

I just assumed Ringo's hat was his cutting board, for cooking, which also functions as protection against the elements.

He's simple, but not stupid.
