If you have watched the series Bloodline, you probably come to the conclusion that the death of Sara, and the way it was handled, set the Rayburn's on a collision course with hell. It really demolished the family and everyone associated.

So after watching it, who do you blame the most?

Danny? - Danny was the young man who took Sara out on the boat where she eventually drown without permission. Or did he? Danny also was devastated by the events of that day and his life turned to shite. Some was his own doing, other parts by the way he was treated afterwards

John, Kevin and Meg? All three lied about the "Accident" to the authorities after the events of the day Sara died and basically covered shite up their entire lives and treated Danny like a bum.

Sally - Sally not only was involved with the fight that got Sara so upset, she basically sent Danny away with her (not directly in the boat) to get her away from the fighting with Robert. She also made up the lie, to protect Robert, and guided John, Meg and Kevin on the lie that eventually exonerated Robert after he beat the shite out of Danny and injured him for life

Robert - Was a piece of shite man who beat his kid and injured him after the accident on the boat. He then let the kids lie about what happened which eventually sent his oldest son's life on a downward spiral

Lots of blame here to go around but who do you put the majority of the blame on?

For me, its Sally. Though Sara's death was excruciating for the family, the lie is what eventually sent Danny over the edge. He was no saint and he is responsible for his own actions as an adult but he was damaged from the beginning

Thoughts?

I too blame ROBERT but I think the initial beating could have been dealt with. What Sally did was terrible.

Robert is to blame for being a total POS. What he set in motion, Kevin completed by continuing to make stupid decisions.

Sally wouldn't have had to create the lie if it weren't for Robert beating his kid. Even if the lie, and not the beating, is responsible for the way Danny turned out, Robert's beating created the "need" for Sally's lie. The second season set the third season up to be a big unraveling of how shitty Robert was as a person too.

IMO, John is the last guy to blame.

He did what was right and even helped Danny throughout his life. Till he ended it

But as for the blame for the big innocent, he was not at fault

Not to derail the thread, but does anyone else think it's become TOO much of a mess?

There's no one to root for anymore. Who is the character with any sense of decency? Chelsea?

They all suck, and the answer is Robert for whatever he did in the past to purchase the property for the inn.

Great discussion. I too have to go with Robert. The buck stops with the patriarch, especially in this instance. Have we ever received any indication as to what kind of kid Danny was before his sister died and he got the beating. It would be interesting to know if his trajectory camejust from that moment or if he was already headed to being a screw up.

I really want to know what he did. Has there been a speculation idea thread yet?

I grew more and more sympathetic to Danny's son as the second season went on.

I could see that. He'll be the redemption character I guess.

He still burned down his father's restaurant, but he gets a second chance since he did it as a kid trying to help his frick up father.

Robert went along with the lie, which cemented his place in hell. What a lesson to torment your kids with their whole lives while you're living an outwardly respectable life.

And what was that choice he gave Danny? It was to back his restaurant or something to do with his son. Whatever it was, it was a real scumbag thing to do.
