Ep 4: worst of the series. Not terrible, just not good.

i thought it was the weakest of the first 4 but I really liked the ending with the song choice.

1, 3, and 6 killed it. 2, 4, and 5 were meh. But that's just relative to the rest of the series. They were still entertaining. I'm going to rewatch ep 4 since I was pretty drunk by the time I got to it, but 2 just wasn't for me and 5 seems to be unanimously meh.

I have noticed some of the episodes contain callbacks or references to other episodes - implying all the stories are in the same universe.

I noticed the song from "15 Million Merits" was in "White Christmas" and in "Men Against Fire" (soldier one from season three).

I also noticed in "Hated in the Nation" that Blue (the tech detective) mentions she left forensics because of the "Ian Rannoch case" - Ian Rannoch was the boyfriend of Victoria Skillane - the main character from "White Bear".

Also, one of the symbols on the table that turns into Whack-A-Mole in "Playtest" is the same symbol from "White Bear".

Not surprisingly, someone on Reddit has listed all the connections here.

I hope one day - maybe the series finale? - we get one overarching story that ties it all together.

I've noticed the same song used in several episodes too. I wonder if it's like an inside joke kind of thing..

Episode 1 : great
Episode 2: great
Episode 3: holy shite balls.. great
Episode 4: catches you in the feelz. good not great
Episode 5: least favorite.. still good though
Episode 6: great

I hope they continue to make these. Quality TV and the originality is awesome.

Episode 4 - San Junipero SPOILERS

I'm having a tough time with the way this one ended. Did anybody else struggle with why Kelly made the decision she made? Don't get me wrong, I liked that it was such a change with a happy ending, and overall it felt like a great episode to me. I'm just having a hard time understanding why she made such a drastic change in what she wanted to do. After 40 years of knowing she would just die, she changed her mind to go be with someone she just met for eternity?

I suggest a rewatch on this one, there's little things that make much more sense during it

So far I've watched 1-3. Could be some spoilers below:

1: I LOVED about 90% of the episode. One thing I like abotu BM is the futuristic yet also plausible aspects of it. The searching for likes and upvotes thing was awesome to watch but I didn't care for the ending. It was too cringey which definitely isn't what BM is known for. Her breaking down giving the wedding speech was somethign I'd expect out of a lame sitcom. And the end when they're finally free to cuss at each other with no repercussions...eh I get it it just didn't really resonate with me I guess.

2: This is the kind of ep I've come to expect of BM. Futuristic, creepy, twists and turns, surprising ending. I really liked this one. I changed my mind several times in a few minutes on what was real or simluated.

3: Similar to the first one, I overall liked the episode but was probably more enthralled with the story instead of the ending. I was super into this goose chase the kid is going on, but at the end he gets outed anyway. I get that it was kind of justice since he was a perv but it kinda of made the rest of the story for naught in a way. Also...I'm not a "we need answers for everythign" kind of person but we don't know shite about who was behind the hack, why they did it, how/why they got so many other people involved, what is their endgame, what do they want, etc.

I didn't think E6 was very Black Mirror-esque

I still enjoyed it but I thought that it was more of just a solid Sci-Fi movie than anything else.

I can't think of one that I clearly enjoyed above the others. If I had to pick a favorite from S3 I would probably go with Playtest at the moment. They were all pretty solid but nothing topping some of the S1 or S2 episodes.

Honestly, I only really liked Playtest (ep2) and Most Hated Nation (ep 6). Most of the others really didnt feel compelling to me. To me the best episodes of Black Mirror are those that take technology and show how it can affect you on a deeply personal level. "Entire History of You" and "Be Right Back" does just that.

Season 3 was way too much about making social commentary instead of telling a personal story. "Shut up and dance" was intense, but that stuff has already been happening for years with hackers taking people's things hostage.

They also really need to move away from focusing so heavily on social media devices. They have done 3 episodes on it, with 2 of them in just this one season.

I really felt this season was by far the weakest, with none matching the best of season 1 or 2, and several downright bad episodes. I'm not sure if I'd watch season 4 based on how this Netflix season went.

In season 1, 1/3 of the episodes were garbage.
In season 2, 1/3 of the episodes were garbage.

I haven't finished this season adn will gladly agree that nothing so far is on par with the best of the best prior to S4, but I'm not sure a bad episode or 2 would be enough to sway me of not watching again.
