it wasn't a bad movie. I don't get all of the hype. SFP is pretty close in his assessment.

Better than American Sniper, but not better than Whiplash. Whiplash, followed by The Theory of Everything, followed by Birdman would probably be how I'd rank the top three picture nominees last year.

It's the In The Line Of Fire of actors. All about the process, and making a production. Of course Hollywood was going to fawn all over it.

The reason why Hollywood loved this is the exact reason Hollywood loathed Tropic Thunder. I was shocked RDJ got a Oscar nomination out of that

Got the DVD as a Christmas present. Tried to watch it last night. Couldn't get through it.

It is.

But it's a really well-done jerk-off-Hollywood movie.

I liked it and would recommend it to anyone who likes movies with lots of dialogue and a bit of magical realism.

It's actually a condemnation of Hollywood for making soulless superhero films which have no cultural "importance". What this movie does is jack off Broadway and "The Theater", which is playing off of Hollywood's massive insecurities.

1. Whiplash
2. Leviathan
3 Ida
4. Only Lovers Left Alive
5&6. nightcrawler/under the skin

I'm ok with Birdman though.

If that's what you got out of it, you might want to watch it again.
