Couple of amusing moments.

But no. It was a mess.

The moral: sticking up for yourself is bad.

I'm serious.

It’s a Netflix comedy

All jokes are going to be neutered

And in the end, the white man will have learned his lesson

I feel like burr didn’t really act. He just ranted like he did on his podcast. Not necessarily a bad thing for the theme of the movie.

Burr rants, smacked down like a bitch by wife

Burr rants, smacked like a bitch down by boss

Burr rants, smacked down by women at PTA meeting

Burr rants, smacked down by effeminate dude

All his rants are him sticking up for himself, and bad things happen to him in response.

That is why I said the moral is, don't stick up for yourself.

An opinion piece from a woke bitch writing for Variety popped up on my microsoft homepage today complaining about it, so therefore it’s probably pretty good.

Good comedians that stay true to themselves never really break through. They keep getting slapped down to Hollywood mediocrity.

Norm McDonald is probably the absolute example.

OK hold up. The entirely of the movie was 103% cynicism. Yes, the movie sucked but it definitely wasn't Woke. It made fun of it. And Gen X, don't have preschool kid.

ETA: in fact, it's 105% cynical. Burr and Men win. Except for the young kid part but the arse is nice.

Burr apologizes for having dignity, ends up Neutered. Wife never once sticks up for him. Shown as the price of being married.

Other dude pleads with his wife to not treat him like a bitch, she glares at him. . .then walks away. End of his story.

Bokeem ends up pretty much where he started, but now girl is pregnant.

How did they win?

We'll agree to disagree. The men's dialog was far from cowering. It was almost entirely mocking in fact.

Did you also think Stepbrothers was a documentary

It’s not going to win any awards but I can think of worse ways to spend a couple of hours on a Friday night

I like Bill Burr most of the time but this movie wasn't great. It tried to make a comedy out of the inevitability of being emasculated and belittled at every turn. Everybody treated them like they were dinosaur Neanderthals incapable of living in "polite" society. Eventually, the three of them all seem to accept being constantly shite on in order to keep the peace or something. A bunch of county women and effeminate men attacking a man for being a normal, slightly angry dude. Well, frick that, I'm not going down without a fight.

Pretty accurate take.

Except the angry part. Most of the time he got angry, was because he was being needled, sometimes intentionally. Can't think of a single time he got angry in the movie, that a perfectly reasonable person would not have been angry.

Yeah, you're supposed to just roll over and show your belly to the perpetually offended. Reason is irrelevant. Being your average reasonable white guy is problematic, misogynistic, homophobic, racist, toxic, etc., etc.

Burr’s character won. Sent the kid to a public school like he wanted, avoided divorce, and had a rager to raise money.

Seems like he avoided caving to the PC crowd
