I like Spaceballs as much as the next guy, but Airplane! is probably my favorite comedy ever.

Airplane. I rewatched Spaceballs last year for the first time in many years found it to be a little over the top with the jewish references.

Does anyone speak jive?

This one is easy for me. Airplane is definitely in my top 5 comedies ever.

It's Airplane and not really close.

Spaceballs is ok but nothing special like some think. Airplane is a fricking classic.

This ? Is like asking which is better, Jaws or Deep Blue Sea

Anyone who picks Spaceballs over Airplane! has no freaking clue what they are talking about.

Airplane easily for me.

I wouldn't even rate Spaceballs as one of Brooks's top 3. I think he was past his prime when he did that one. I liked Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and History of the World Part 1 all better.

I think a better contest is "Spaceballs" versus "Galaxy Quest", which I believe we've done here in the past. I waiver between those two.

There's probably a generational gap here and I can't decide.

If I had to choose Spaceballs or Airplane to watch tonight, I would go with Spaceballs.

Airplane could be the better comedy though.

The fact that you quoted Airplane while trying to claim Spaceballs was the best only furthers the superiority of Airplane as the better comedy.

And don't call me Shirley.

I'd take Galaxy Quest. Sigourney never looked better.

I'll take Airplane 2 over Spaceballs (Sonny Bono's best work). Airplane is far superior.

Spaceballs certainly has its moments, but I have to agree. Airplane is really legendarily great. It's really no contest for me.

I normally like Brooks' stuff but I never could sit through Spaceballs. I've tried several times.
