So we’re in the spooky month lol, and am looking for scary movies to watch. I’m in the mood for a werewolf movie. What’s your favorite one and why? Which one should I watch?

An American Werewolf in London and Wolfen are somewhat close, but I would go with the former.

(My trifecta would include The Howling, but that is more for the visual effects than the overall film - fun fact - Rick Baker left The Howling to make AAWIL - and all three of my trifecta films were released in 1981 )

Silver Bullet fricked me up when I was a kid. My older brother made me watch it when I was pretty small. We were staying at my grandparents' out in the middle of nowhere in Bienville Parish and coyotes came up pretty close to the house that night. My brother kept telling me they were werewolves coming to get me. I'll be 40 this year. 20+ years as an electrician, 20+ years as a firefighter, I've swam with sharks several times, been skydiving... I'm still scared of werewolves

Original The Wolfman from the 1930’s. Wolfen, based on Whitley Streiber’s The Wolfen. (The film was by the guy who did Woodstock and has a really good cast.) The best is An American Werewolf in London. It has a hyper realistic quality that is very strange with great set lighting, unusual acting, and very good editing.

Silver Bullet...just because Gary Busey is the cool uncle to Corey Haim.

I forgot about that one. While not a werewolf movie in the truest sense, it's still a great film. The POV shots of the murders are very well done and creepy.

Rick Baker is a legitimate artistic genius. If those CGI jockeys in Hollywood and Korea woke up with 1/64th of his talent, they would fricking die of the utter shock.

Werewolf by Night is out on Disney. I haven’t watched it yet.

But I like The Wolf Man from ‘41 & The Curse of the Werewolf from the early 60s. More recent would be Wolfen, a great cast with a young Albert Finley & Tom Noonan.
