I liked Sonny. One of the girls from Charles in Charge gets naked in it and is super hot.

Billy Bob did a movie called "Chrystal" awhile back, that was a southern Gothic film. It is a strange movie, but very beautiful and just draws you in. Also has my boy Walter Groggins in it.

Would the newer I spit on your grave fit in to the category?

I really like this one and suppose it could be considered southern gothic. Peter Fonda was terrific in it.

Killer Joe

watched this last night
holy shite

Joe Cooper: That poor, miserable bastard set his own genitals on fire just to teach his girlfriend a lesson. I guess he showed her. I wonder if she ever got over it.

Dottie: Was he all right?

Joe Cooper: No. No, he was not all right. He set his genitals on fire.

When I think Southern Gothic, I think Flannery O'Connor, Faulkner, Capote, Harry Crews, etc. It's got to have a little perversion of some kind in there (though not necessarily sexual perversion; could be religious or social perversion).

What about Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil?

I haven't seen the movie only read the book, but what about The Prince of Tides?
The movie focused more (too much) on the relationship between Wingo and Lowenstein and not as much on the history of the family.
