Does Minions count?

Think we all agree Frasier is the best spin-off TV show

Does Creed count? It's an extension of the Rocky universe even though the character of Adonis Creed was never in previous films (his father was).

I really liked Evan Almighty and the first half of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, second half was weak to say the least.

Sure.

For movies, ask again after the Jesus Quintana movie comes out.

Do we? Boston Legal was a spin-off from The Practice. I'd prefer BL over Frasier, and that's not really digging for other shows that might have been spin-offs

Tommy Lee Jones in US Marshalls (spun off from The Fugitive)?

You could perhaps say Inspector Clouseau. The Pink Panther was much more an ensemble movie than the rest of the series.

I'm not so sure. There have been a ton of really good spin off shows (mostly sitcoms and cartoons w/a few prime time soaps) on both network TV and cable.

Just off the top of my head... The Honeymooners, The Andy Griffith Show, The Jeffersons, Maude, Knot's Landing, Laverne and Shirley, Mork and Mindy, Absolutely Fabulous, Melrose Place, The Colbert Report, Angry Boys, Star Trek (multiple), Family Matters, Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, The Simpsons, Aeon Flux, Beavis and Butthead, Daria, damn near everything Cartoon Network aired from the late '90s through the mid '00s...

shite, there are even GOAT trash TV spinoffs like Vanderpump Rules which can often pull just as many emotions from a person as an episode of Game of Thrones with it's ability to get so many to secretly hate watch the frick out of it.

If you're going to include TV shows, I think it's about time to include Better Call Saul. It's just amazing.

Didn't Jack Sparrow start out as a smaller character in the franchise before completely taking it over?
