No offense, but how slowly do you read?

On topic, The Sword in the Stone gets my vote. Maybe not best, but my favorite.

If most books were made, word for word, into a movie, they'd be that long. Has nothing to do with the speed someone reads.

Jaws the movie is much improved over the book. The book was not very good.

Ender's Game the movie sucked on every level imaginable.

Stardust was a pretty good iteration of Gaiman's book, although they did change the end.

Gotchya, took your comment the wrong way...obviously.

I concur with the premise of your statement.

I loved Count of Monte Christo. Thought Guy Pearce carried the movie as a villain.

It took a lot of liberties from the book which it needed to do to make a better movie. Same as with Last of the Mohicans.

I'll throw in Gone With the Wind. Both movie and book are classics.

Here's one I never see posted in these threads.

Payback with Mel Gibson it's based on the Parker novels by Richard Stark aka Donald E. Westlake.

I love this movie if you've read the books Gibson was Parker.

If you haven't read the books you should they're real fun... Richard Stark Parker novels
