usually simplicity and characterization of the movie are pretty key...which is why JAWS is such a great title, but it's hard to beat

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK...what a cool fricking title

It didn't even make the first page and it's so perfect. It describes the plot of the movie but it's also unique as shite and it just sounds awesome

Came here to post Raiders of the Lost Ark but someone beat me to it.

Then read and said to myself that The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is probably better. Then saw The Empire Strikes Back and it may have my vote.

Raiders is a fricking cool one too, the funny thing is both titles were retroactively ruined

Now it's

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Rather than just the bolded title

Empire
Raiders
Jaws
Alien

If you get the jist of the plot and tone from the title, it's a great title

Speaking of Sydney Lumet, he has a shite ton of great titles over his 50 year career:

12 Angry Men is just badass.

Old movies seemed to have better titles, now everything is dumbed down or some kind of jumbled mess sequel with a subtitle especially for big budget movies.

A couple other great old movie titles

Cool Hand Luke
A Streetcar Named Desire
Raging Bull
Apocalypse Now
Paths of Glory
Sling Blade

I've always thought Zero Dark Thirty was one of the coolest movie titles ever, especially considering its subject matter.

Always thought To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar was an interesting title because I always like titles that the audience doesn't necessarily understand until a certain point in the movie. Rain Man is another example.

Holy shite. Were you jacking off when you posted that?

The answer is obviously "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka."
