Not of big fan of beating a dead horse, but with a lot of the different opinions of the M/TV board on TDKR, I think MovieBob here does a great job of being pretty objective and explaining what is great and not so great about the film. Check out the video and see what you think. SIAP back when the film was released, but I just recently started checking out the escapist and really like Bob's take on... well, pretty everything.

Too much exposition
Cheesy Lines

Pretty much my take. That dude blows. The avengers is better?

The avengers was a better movie. It did exactly what it was supposed to do and did it extremely well. TDKR had almost as many holes as Prometheus

FWIW I was able to enjoy parts of both TDKR and Prometheus in some ways but thought both fell badly short of what they had hoped to end up being.

Spy Kids' main goal was to make an espionage movie tailored to children. They accomplished the shite out of that.

Spy Kids > Dark Knight Rises

No one will ever convince me that the Avengers was better, or even that good of a movie.

The blowhard who does this review has such ridiculous expectations. He was underwhelmed by the fight between Batman and Bane? I'm assuming he preferred watching a CGI Hulk smash Loki into the ground like it was a Saturday morning kids cartoon

That was one of best, most raw and in-your-face fist fights I have ever seen. And I've seen a lot of movies. It was almost as badass as the fight scene in They Live

disagree

the core story in TDKR really doesn't make sense.

I really want to do a thread on the nitpicks and editing in TDK...and why it is such a great movie

No it makes sense, it just wasn't pieced together as well as it should have.

It's a great movie because it just is. Some folks went in with ridiculous expectations only to be inevitably disappointed.

Lots of plot holes? Sure. Do I give a frick? No.

Avengers was a fun movie top to bottom. It made me happy that I lived long enough to see such a cool translation of comics into live action film. It was funny. It was exciting. It was cool to watch. Is it a deep sophisticated movie with powerful themes? Nope. But its a nonstop fun ride.

TDKR was a mess. It had some really good parts, but overall it just didn't hold together. People doing things for no obvious reason (yes, if you micro-analyze it, you can kind of figure out why everyone did what they did - but should you really need to work that hard in this type of a movie??). Plus, there were slow stretches for good chunks of the movie. It was just uneven.

TDK was a much better movie in that it had a more focused plot and a more coherent theme. Heath Ledger put in the best performance in any of the 3 Bat movies. But even that movie was bloated and could have done w/a good 30 minute excision of fat.

BB is arguably the best of the Nolan trilogy b/c other than the very ending, where it degenerated into more of a flashy action movie, it was extremely tight and focused and gave what's easily the best interpretation/explanation for the Batman character on the screen to date. It laid it out its theme about conquering one's fear and then ran with it throughout the movie. I can see the argument though the TDR is a better movie only insofar as BB has no performance close to Heath Ledger's Joker.
