Someone mentioned that Helena Bonham Carter is in like every recent Tim Burton movie lately and that got me thinking which directors have their "go-to" actors and which combo really brings the best out of each other.

Tarantino, scorsese, soderbergh, Cohens, Farrely's, Speilberg, etc

all have their peeps.

which combo are the stockton-malone of film. (or whoever stockton-malone in the NBA is now. i'm old)

it doesn't have to be leading roles...it could just be an actor that always seems to nail the director's vision. and the director that always seems to bring the best out of an actor.

edit: also, who would you like to see work together more.

Scorcese and DiCaprio seem to be really good, and seems like it would be a popular choice.

Gangs of NY
The Aviator
The Departed
Shutter Island

Wolf of Wall Street coming soon.

But for real, prolly Scorcese-Dicaprio

I wish Michael Madsen had kept up with Tarantino. I like that combo.

Scorsese/Deniro is obvious number one

McQueen/Fassbender is shaping up to be pretty great

Scorsese-Dicaprio probably the best IMO

Raimi-Campbell just for fun

Just a feeling on this one...Blomkamp-Copley. When Elysium comes out I thing Copley has what it takes to be a BAMF, and that has me really excited about this movie.

Wouldn't Nolan and Bale be a better one?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Someone should write an essay comparing Scorsese/Deniro to Scorsese/DiCaprio films.

Another entry:

With Nolan I'd actually say his go-to actor is really Cillian Murphy.
