Don't know about "best" but Kevin Costner has a band called Modern West.
Also one of the most celeb filled celeb bands (though not all that good musically) has to be Rock-Bottom Remainders. Made up of published authors, the group includes Dave Barry, Stephen King, Amy Tan, Maya Angelou, Mitch Albom, and Matt Groening.

I saw Russel crowe's band once. Left after 2 songs, can't believe my friends and i stayed that long.

She & Him absolutely. Saw the show last year, and I was impressed.
30 Seconds is alright. He can be a little pretentious at times with his vocals.

30 Secinds to Mars is the only one I've actually heard and they were decent, so I'm assuming they are the best.
