The show made him look really bad. Not going to class and sometimes lackluster effort

I always suspected his dad was kind of a jagoff.

My problem with him wasn't with his father. I thought he was fine.My problem was with Simmons lack of work ethic and lack of dedication to going to class even if he was only going to be there one year

Why would he go to class?

I thought the show justified his lack of academic effort.

Having players wait a year after high school before declaring themselves eligible for the draft is straight out stupid. Kids who have zero interest in education are taking up space others would love to have. College basketball programs are in a constant state of flux.

If the kid wants to play in the NBA at 18 and a franchise is willing to roll the dice on his talents then let him play.

If he wants to go to college first then the NBA should adopt the same three year waiting period before becoming draft eligible that the NFL and MLB are both utilizing.

Ben Simmons did more harm than good to the LSU program.

What rule is forcing him to go to college?

The owners voted for this rule to protect themselves from themselves.

No argument here.

I don't understand why some of these one and done do not go to Europe to play. Spend a year in Europe playing basketball as an 18 year old would be awesome.

I didn't imply, or at least didn't mean to imply, they were forced to attend college. I did say they must wait a year before applying for the draft. They can spend that year in the manner of their choosing.

Yes, it's an NBA rule. GM's, being aware of the precarious nature of their jobs, don't want to risk it all on an unproven 18 year old. The won't all be Lebron or kobe.

I think, overall, it's bad for college basketball.

It is horrible for college. I wish we had the baseball system as well. That or more kids would be directed to Europe by agents. Problem is the exposure they get with the NCAA and March Madness is worth more than the salary they would get from Europe.

Plus some of these kids know if they go to Europe and play against people actually at (or in some cases above) their level, that it would hurt their draft stock.

All in all I don't think this was as good of an idea for Ben Simmons as he thought it would be (the documentary)

I don't think many were shocked that his Quantum Physics attendance was lackluster.
