BBC America has given an eight-episode order to an adaptation of the Douglas Adams novel series “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency,” written by Max Landis.

“Dirk Gently” is a cult-favorite property from the novelist known for his “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” series. The series is co-produced by AMC Studios, Ideate Media and comic book publisher IDW Entertainment with Circle of Confusion producing. Exec producers are Landis, Ideate’s Arvind Ethan David and Zainir Aminullah, IDW Entertainment’s Ted Adams and David Ozer and David Alpert and Rick Jacobs from Circle of Confusion.

The series will follow the surreal adventures of the highly unconventional detective and his reluctant assistant Todd as they navigate one big metaphysical mystery per season.

fun books. Not as fun as HHG, but fun. Expect it could make for a pretty funny series.

Well, we already have a one series. I was hoping this was news that they were having another season after a long hiatus.

Will still watch.

Strange that the article doesn't even mention the past project.

Wish BBCA would bring back My Family and Coupling instead of running STTNG re-runs.

Nothing like getting a channel for foreign tv but instead getting old US reruns. Pure crap. That would actually piss me off.

Big Douglas Adams fan here. Come on, "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish" ? I will definitely tune in to see how Dirk comes to life. Thought this book was OK and not Hitchhikers greatness. Because of that I'm not emotionally attached for actors playing my beloved characters. I know, might not make since but its hard to watch an actor's portrayal of a character that I pictured completely different.
