So this new show started on the HIstory channel tonight. The scholars doing the explanation were great, but the dramatic portrayals were awful. The subject was Hannibal and they had him as a buff black guy. Wow talk about change history. That's like doing a movie about Frederick Douglas played by a white guy. Way to screw something else up History Channel

Hannibal was African, that does not mean he was black. The Carthagenian people were descended from the Phoenician colonists. The Phoenicians weren't black.
That's not to say that intermarriage couldn't have happened but he was prolly just middle eastern colored.

Yeah this drives me crazy. I teach a Roman History College course and I know my students watch this crap. There goes everything I taught them.

I was thinking Xerxes without the piercings.

I thought it was good. It tries to combine the best aspects of Battle 360 and Combat Zone.

I'm gonna write to Crayola and tell them to put that in at least the box of 64.
About the scholars - I recognized that one guy from the show(s) about the history of the bible. Must've been moonlighting.

I actually am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were demographically ignorant on this one and assumed that all africans are black. Based on the videos that often accompany these shows, I'm not entirely sure the video production is made by the same people that write the script and do the research.

So... about the show... you dermatologists... I liked the Hannibal stuff; I never focused on what the he looked like, like everyone else.
The battles and scenery themselves aren't going to look great or that realistic, it's the history channel, which means it is more about the story.
I'm looking forward to tonight's telecast.
