Did we really need a 500 million dollar movie talking about the evil imperialist Americans killing the noble savages for their magic mineral?

I'm thinking this other "avatar" movie, which had a naming rights dispute for the title, is looking better.

M. Night's movie will probably get blasted worse than J. Cameron's.

Looks like a better movie to me at this point.

I think they dropped the ball making the alien race look so cartoon/fantasy like. The parts from the new trailer with the humans look interesting to me, but I totally lose interest when they start showing the aliens. Those parts feel like a kids movie.

Is this the one where the guy is blowing out candles in the previews? WTF is it about.

All I've seen was the teaser. It looked okay. To me they both look equally mediocre.

Just watched the new extended trailer and it really does look like Dances With Aliens.

Some of the effects look good but some of them look pretty cartoonish. Instead of creating a whole new way to animate effects maybe Jimbo should have saved himself 300 million and just got with normal animation.

Just my thoughts based on the trailer. Once I see the movie, I may think he reinvented the wheel.

Isn't this the 3rd one in a 24 hour timespan? At least wait until its released before bashing it.

We can discuss a trailer. People talk about trailers on here all the time.

I have an open mind. I just think the trailer looks cartoonish and if you are going to spend 400 million, i don't think that is what he was going for.

This, too.

ETA: And I'm really tired of "evil America" and "evil corporation" movies.

Do we really need to bash a movie that none of us have seen? I mean, I think it will suck because its James Cameron, but if you don't pay attention to plot or character, he's normally pretty good at blowing stuff up. Can we at least wait until it comes out to condemn the movie?

Can't we discuss the shitty look of the trailer? And most of the trailers these days give away the whole fricking movie, anyway. Maybe "bashing the movie" is over the top but saying you're not interested because it looks like a $500 million version of Roger the Rabbit should be okay.
