AT&T Uverse and DirecTV?

Anyone know what AT&T's plan is for these two? Are they going to merge the two? Everyone I know loves Uverse, but I think DirecTV has a more known, established name from a marketing standpoint.
When I go into AT&T's website it's almost only DirecTV. Even when I called in asking for Uverse rates the lady asked why I didn't want DirecTV instead.
There's no way they're going to continue to have two different entities compete against each other while only pushing one, right?

I'm an AT&T employee, Uverse tv is being phased out and no longer offered. AT&T hired hundreds of temporary employees a few years ago to help rehab all the plant(copper cable in the 9 states(old Bellsouth area) for Uverse. Then in March 2014 they let every one of those employees go with no notice. 2 weeks later the $50 billion acquisition of Direct Tv was announced.
Basically, AT&T is trying to get rid of copper used services. We are in the midst of a huge overhaul of fiber to the curb by 2020 deadline. We're nowhere close but we'll be there by 2025. We're focusing on businesses first.

Interdasting. I figured they had to be leaning towards DirecTV with how much they've been pushing it almost exclusively on their website.
I was thinking of moving to Uverse. Any idea how this move is going to affect those customers? Are they slowly going to get shittier and shittier product before being forced to move to DirecTV? Should I just stay with DirecTV?

I'm not sure what they're telling customers, AT&T has been so bipolar the last several years. They leave us employees out to dry mostly. Uverse tv was getting great reviews and I was excited to eventually get it. I'm not sure how long they're going to provide Uverse to areas that already have it.
Right now they are offering AT&T wireless customers unlimited data if you have direct Tv as well.
I will say this, AT&T has really hooked us up with employee discount.
50% off wireless
$10 a month for Direct Tv
They're setting us up for something I just know it haha

Do you know how this works if you're on a family plan? Would you need as many DirecTV accounts as you have phones for the unlimited or does one DirecTV account get you unlimited data for all phones?
Sorry for the multiple questions, but you're alot more helpful than what I've been getting over the phone/on their website ha !

Hmmm. And we were looking at getting Uverse now that we're moving to a part of Baton Rouge that has the service.

I have directv and the unlimited plan. It covers 3 phones and a tablet. It is supposed to be throttled after 21 gigs have been used but I haven't noticed it. The 21 gigs is per device not combined.

How long will the unlimited data offer for DirecTV customers be around?

I had Uverse for several years with no issues other than prices always going up. After AT&T refused to lower the prices I switched to Directv (before they were acquired). About a year after the acquisition I convinced AT&T to let me out of my Directv contract if I switched back to Uverse. Where my TV is located in the living room there isn't a feasible way to get a cable to it so wireless receivers were my only option. The wireless genie mini's that Directv offer are complete garbage. They just did not respond at all to the remotes (Directv or my Harmony). We also had issues where some major network channels would go out even if there were no clouds or rain.

As one of the above posters said, the unlimited data plan for those with Direct includes 3 lines and a tablet.
Also, I misspoke by saying Uverse Tv is no longer offered. You can still get it in the areas that have it, but they will try and detour you to Direct TV from what I've heard. But any areas that currently do not have Uverse will never get it, AT&T put a fork in adding anymore infrastructure for that technology the day they bought Direct. We have not been told on when or whether they will pull the plug on Uverse. I would assume at least 5-8 years though

There are a few turnoffs to these "great offers".
1. You lose your personal hotspot with the unlimited plan.
2. When u bundle the two bills they get a little iffy with the billing.
I had to go back to my old plan and now im about to cancle dtv cause they've been scamming since partnering with att

AT&T has contractors in my neighborhood installing conduit right now. Well, the frickers busted my water service line yesterday and didn't report it. So, the water company wasn't notified until we got home at 8:30 and tried to bathe our 8 week old daughter.
