Oh shut the frick up.

I quit reading the Hodor thread because of all the pieces of shite who pretend to be Hodors but basically hold everyone's hand and lead them through the story, predicting everything that happens before it does. Some seem like legit guesses, but some posters are too consistently correct not to be full of shite.

He was short. fricking get over it.

Knowing the details of Robert's Rebellion makes the show even more enjoyable than it already was (and like you said, it makes more sense, too.) The context I got from just a few chapters of the first book changed the way I viewed certain characters.

If I had one complaint about the show, it's that they have neglected the back story of the Rebellion so much.

I said this exact same thing in the GoTs thread yesterday. I know it would be hard to do but there's got to be something that could've been done to clue some people into what happened. The events in RR influence basically every decision and story in GoTs, but people have zero clue about it

I forgot how young Sansa looked when the show started until I started rewatching it last week. She's grown a tonnnnn

Exactly.

I'm thinking there has to be a flashback sequence or some way of introducing that material fluidly. It's kinda late to just start talking about it in the show now. Maybe not a flashback in the literal sense, but perhaps in a certain magical cripple's visions or some shite.

possible spoiler redacted)That was a massive deal, but honestly, I really like it. I’m so sick of going on the Internet and seeing all the book readers being snobby, spoiling it for other people, then saying, 'Well, it’s not a spoiler. The books have been out for years.' Like, couldn’t you just stop being mad for a second and let other people enjoy the show?

Thank god, book readers are firkin annoying

Couldn't agree more and then all they do is bitch if they change up something from books. Pretty sad how they get off on thinking they have knowledge of what's going to happen down the road. Once the show catches up with the books it's gonna be interesting to see that attitude shift once they're at risk for spoilers.

I'm not all that bothered by the smarmy attitudes and I don't know what their complaints about differences are, but the only way to avoid spoilers is to stay away from the threads completely. I'd like to read and participate because it's a fun show, but the spoilers are just too tempting for some people.

Like I said, many of the readers are just losers who, for once in their lives, have a sense of advantage or superiority over others and have to make it known in the most classless of ways. Others seems to think that anyone who hasn't read the novels are idiots just because they possess knowledge that Hodors don't. Well, I don't know how to rebuild a transmission, but that doesn't mean that every auto mechanic in the world is smarter than I am.

The show must be pretty far along if some of you are discussing it catching up to the novels. I'm told that 4 and 5 are kind of boring. It's always a bit cumbersome for me to read material that I already know so much about, so hearing that doesn't motivate me to pick them up.

This is pretty spot on.

It's basically caught up on one storyline already, in about a season there will be one or two more storylines that are more or less caught up and then in two seasons it will definitely be completely caught up to the end of Dance. By then the next book will likely be out, but if not the ensuing chaos will be great.

I don't see how they could continue the show beyond the next book if it didn't come out first. I guess they could, but that would be unusual - the show going past the books.

They know how it ends and GRRM must have provided a general outline of events that will occur in order to get to that ending. Their writers will just take whatever liberties are needed in regards to the details to reach that ending.

I thought that was in case he died. It would be weird for the show to go on with him still alive and writing the books.

I just like how one of the most beloved characters basically called people out for being condescending assholes. Thanks, Masie.
