Despite the absurd story, the complete and utter disregard for physics or common sense, and the sometimes laughable dialogue, one thing is for certain.
Harry Stamper is a godddamned American Hero. If you don't get a little misty from the time he rips AJs air hose out, says goodbye to Grace, and then mans up and presses the button to save the world, you have no soul.

Beat me to it. He's pretty much a global hero.

Also, when the guys launch, they do an around the world montage and it's daylight everywhere around the world.
Michael Bay is an a-hole.

Funny, was watching Deep Impact today and thought the same thing.

If the story really happened today, he'd be a hero for a few years until some SJW dug up some politically incorrect thing he said at some point in his life, tarnishing his legacy.

Billy Bobs' character is in a wheelchair for alot of the movie and its never explained then later he's walking around... always blows my mind.

I'd rather be an American hero than a world hero.

Colonel Willie Sharp, United States Air Force, ma'am. Requesting permission to shake the hand of the daughter ... of the bravest man I've ever met.
