Hope so but wouldn't count on it.

Rumor that the Greedo shot first will be reversed

I've actually heard the argument made that he shot first, but his gun jammed and it was corrected.

The scene (and the character, Han Solo) doesn't make sense if Greedo shot first.

As soon as he sat down, Han intended on killing him. The "I'll bet you have" was the emphasis on this. No one calmly says this while returning fire.

Now, I don't think Solo is a sociopath - when he saw Greedo, it is pretty clear ("I'm probably going to have to kill this fool"), but he gave him a chance to walk away. When he wanted the Falcon as a bribe to go away, Han's next action was going to be to shoot him. After the "over my dead body" exchange, Han shoots him as Greedo doesn't even realize Han has already drawn on him.

well it kind of fricked up one of the cooler scenes in the entire series.

right then and there you know exactly what kind of person Han is.

that gets tossed out the window if its him simply returning fire.

never mind the fact that it looked ridiculous.

I will punch George in the throat...then I'll tell the judge that George punched first!

As we should. Retconning is lame.

I don't buy any of that.

I don't think the scene makes Han different one way or another.

I never realized there was even a question.

When I saw the movie as a kid and when I watch the DVD with my kid it's clear as day that Han shot him without Greedo ever knowing what happened.

When was it retconned that Greedo shot first?

This is really the first I've ever heard of this

Starting with the special edition release in 97 and the dvd box set in 04.

Han's disposal of Greedo plus his "I know" comment solidified him as the coolest SOB in the galaxy. The bullshite Greedo shot first shite plus the shitty puppet looking digital movement of Han was an abomination. GL should be ashamed. So glad he is no longer at the helm of this franchise.

Don't forget all the crap they added in and changed at the end of RotJ on the 04 release. "Weesa free!"

I already did. All I did was pretend the special editions don't exist. IDGAF what is "canon."

I have nothing further to add to this statement.

Well, that's a judgment call and a matter of individual taste. I think there have been some pretty solid posts in this thread making a very good case that the change was detrimental to the characterization of Han.
