Regal just opened a new theater in Panama City, the old one was destroyed in Hurricane Michael.

Took my mom to go watch the new Mission impossible movie in their 4DX theater. Talk about an intense experience. The entire seat moves similar to a theme park ride, there’s smoke, water, wind, and a few other features that really bring it to life.

That being said, I felt like I had just done a two hour leg day after leaving that movie.

I went to the one near me and was underwhelmed.

Your mileage may vary but for me it’s not worth the price.

there’s smoke

I went to the AMC on the Westbank - $7

There was plenty of - puff puff - smoke
My broken seat -> moved
Guy next to me spilled his drink and was breaking wind

Talk about an intense experience.

There are different levels of 4DX. The top one has screens down the sides of the theater. I've only had the wind / smoke / seat move one. But it was Top Gun Maverick and it was fun

Saw Mission Impossible in Nashville at 4DX. Thought it was pretty sweet. It was $27/ticket there.

I’ve been to a few 4D theaters and have always enjoyed the ones in museums and parks more.

VIP theaters are my preference for blockbuster films if you’re tying to have the best experience possible. They serve booze and real food, comfortably loveseats that recline.

Wish I had remembered this thread before I saw Godzilla - One yesterday. I thought I was going to an IMAX screen, but mistook MX4D for something it wasn't.

How is this a thing? Seriously, aside from the cost, didn't we JUST go through a global pandemic? Where we heard CONSTANTLY the threats of droplet and particles in the air?

So in a movie setting, we've got misters spraying god knows what directly into the faces of the audience.

And I wasn't the only one who was caught completely off guard. The guy next to me and the folks behind me were all oblivious to the chair movements, the mist in your face, the air being blasted by your ears and legs... It was distracting AF.
