Sorry if this film has been discussed, but I’m on my phone.
This movie is well worth a watch.
It’s in French with subtitles, but it’s well worth the effort. A German woman living in France. Is charged with murder when her husband dies in a fall at their home. The lead actress is excellent, and her guilt or innocence is not at all certain.

Watched it a few weeks ago and really liked it. French Court seems wild as hell.

Therapist: The defendant is difficult and emasculated her husband.

Defendant: This dude sucks

Judge: Tell me more

I don’t think I liked it but it was interesting. As had been mentioned on here, it’s actually based on a US case.

I thought it was amazing. A true study in ambiguity and perception. The dialogue written for the main set piece argument between the couple was spectacular.

I love French courts as portrayed in these types of things. I think this was from the same Canal+ that does the show Spiral, which is incredible and shows lots of stuff like this.

Spoiler:

quote:

her guilt or innocence is not at all certain.
I actually think - ironically - that it wasn't all that uncertain...she didn't do it. Otherwise, why would they have had the child clear her out to run his experiment with the dog. I instead think the message is "you can never be certain about anything, but to the extent that someone is kind of certain, in this case, it was an actual blind person".

I thought it was a bore fest, I couldn’t even finish it. I just don’t think French movies are for me. I tried to watch The Night of the 12TH last year also which was another highly rated French movie and thought it was boring too. And I like slow burns. I just think America does court room drama way better than that
