Anyone still watching?
I know a lot of people have checked out of Idol but i still love it, especially the auditions.
Had some really solid contenders tonight.
Was blown away by the guy from Nepal Kathmandu. He was my favorite so far and holy shite he sounded exactly like John Fogerty when he sang Have You Ever Seen The Rain

have to DVR this show.... can get through all the BS and watch a 2 hour show in about 30 minutes or so...
ready for a new season
47 minutes in: 6 people have sung..... this is why I can't watch live.

Still like it. Never have been able to get into The Voice.

Yeah we record as well so we can fast forward through a lot of the stuff before they actually get into the room with the judges and the bad auditions.
They haven’t done those as much since it moved to ABC, which is nice, but they seemed to have a few last night.
Also agree with the other poster that said he never could get into The Voice. Just never enjoyed the format there very much.

Yeah I think Luke might be my favorite judge ever. What he did with the garbage man last night going to the piano and basically teaching him how to find notes in one song was pretty incredible.
I’ve always loved Katy (her hair is back! ), and Lionel has really grown on me.
They really enjoy hearing and being a part of the story of these musicians from all over the country (now world), and that’s always been the best part of Idol to me.
This panel of judges really gets it.

I don’t usually watch but did last night
The guy from Nepal was awesome & when the girl at the end auditioned my allergies had my eyes watering
I like the voice when they turn the chairs, I don’t like the rest of the season

That's the only good part of that show. Idol is good throughout, IMO. They push the stories of the contestants so that it's easier to form connections with them.
Last night was good, but outside of the kid from Nepal no one really blew me away. I'm sure there will be more really awesome contestants, though.
I loved it when Lionel put the cocky dude in his place.

That was awesome
He was like I’ve never done that before it was pretty fun
And yeah I just love the way they tell the stories, it makes it mean so much more when they advance or don’t make it.
Like the other poster said the last girl last night, that just shows the reality for how much this opportunity means to so many people.
And that garbage man, frick. You just know that guy has had it rough and him getting a chance like that, nothing else like it on TV.

Still no show on tv that can make me spontaneously smile and/or tear up like this one.

There should be a "Sob Story Bingo" on these types of shows.

i've actually been a fan for a long time. The only time i haven't watched was the niki minaj, mariah carey season.
But, the first auditions were unwatchable. Luke Bryan teaching someone range ? senile Lionel sending the guy back outside to warm up.
Katy insisting that all eyes be on her.
the JLo,Urban,Connick judge group was the best.

It’s a shame, you missed some good ones.
The Nepalise guy could be great, and I also thought the British kid who sang the original about his friend who committed suicide has an incredible voice, although the song itself was not impressive.

That was the same contestant, and yeah I didn’t get the part about sending him outside. Luke helping him at the piano was actually really cool I thought

I’ve never understood this criticism of her as a judge. I think it’s more based on some preconceived ideas about her apart from this show.
She’s actually one of the more genuine judges ever on the show in really listening to them and trying to give them advice imo.

I agree I liked them a lot. Was probably my favorite panel, although this one has grown on me a lot.
Mostly because the show has changed focus, it really is a storytelling show now about the contestants, at least during auditions, which I actually like a lot.
I can see how some would find it too “sob story bingo” though
I personally just enjoy hearing the stories. A lot of really talented musicians out there without a lot of ways to get discovered. I like that this show gives them a pathway

I mean, did you watch the segment or just see it on the preview? I only ask because it was in the second half of the show and you said you didn’t make it through the first hour.
That was one maybe two minute segment out of a two hour show, and she was doing it because she really believed the girl was good enough to go to Hollywood and was upset that the guys weren’t listening to her.
I completely agreed btw, that girl definitely should have gotten a ticket imo and was better than several of the others they sent through, including the girl that went right after her

Yeah I was shocked. I would have done something similar to what Katy did. Lionel and Luke were tripping on that one. I don't know what they didn't see in her.
Katy is a great personality for the panel. She does legitimately try to connect with the contestants. I love how invested the judges get into the contestants.
Also, if it wasn't for last season I wouldn't know who Alejandro (scarypoolparty) is and that would be a travesty. He's the best artist to come through this show ever, and he wouldn't have gotten the chance to be heard without it.
