Very good Netflix 3 part series.

In the final days of WWII, the paths of a blind French girl and a German soldier collide. Based on Anthony Doerr's Pulitzer Prize-winning bestseller.

I liked this very much with two exceptions: Mark Ruffalo and the portion of the ending they borrowed from Titanic

Mark Ruffalo was terrible

The German actor that played the antagonist was very good.

It was mildly entertaining.

It was good that it was a short series because if you stop to think about it a lot of the plot makes no sense at all.

This. Was underwhelmed overall.

And I was actually retroactively annoyed to see that the actor playing the “protagonist” Nazi also appears as a Nazi in Masters of the Air.

Your wife was completely correct. Book is great. Ruffalo bastardized the British accent all the way through even though he’s supposed to be French.

Ruffalo was horrific

The Germans were cartoonishly bad/evil

Wouldn’t recommend

The book is great.
The show is entertaining enough, but deviated from the book when it should not have.

SPOILER!!

They were using a radio broadcast so the Americans could find and bomb the city where the radio was located .

A city that was right across the Channel from England that any navigator could find blindfolded.

A city filled with civilians.

A city that had no real significance to the invasion.

A city that the Americans decided to repeatedly low level bomb for some reason.

A city that was only occupied by a small garrison that was extremely focused on anti-aircraft defense.

While the invasion is ongoing, the Germans have sent a specialized unit to find the radio broadcast that literally does not help the allies.

Hasn’t it been said that British is nothing but French spoken very poorly?

In the book, the broadcasts very much help the allies. They often included numbers, which turned out to be train schedules, locations of targets, etc.

I can't imagine anyone who really loved the book even remotely liking this series.
