Here's the first news of the Alien sequel, the follow-up to Prometheus. It's easily one of the most love/hate movies on the movie board. I have confidence after Ridley Scott did The Martian that he will do Covenant right and fix the issues from Prometheus. Fox moved its release date from July to May of 2017 so that's a good sign they are confident in this film.
This is a trailer tease. The official trailer is being released on Christmas Day. So pumped to know the xenomorph is returning

Because Prometheus felt like half a movie.
Ridley Scott spent 2 hours setting the dinner table and then forgot to serve the food.

So, is this an actual direct sequel just after Prometheus? I thought Fassbender and Noomi were jetting off to the "architects'" Planet in the final scene?

From the images so far, this looks more like an Alien reboot than a Prometheus sequel. It's like they realized Prometheus sucked and say screw it, let's make another Alien movie.

So it might be more like what everyone thought Prometheus would be?
I don't get the hate for Promethius... I liked it for what it was and I think after Covenant, hopefully we see a more complete picture.

Franco apparently has ten minutes in the film at the beginning. He's Ripley's father. Danny McBride is the pilot of the Covenant.
And if I have read correctly it will explain David and Shaw flying to the engineer homeworld Paradise. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that this movie takes places there.

Prometheus was a letdown because the characters were so stupidly written, I thought the main arc of the story was well done. it should have been a great movie but it was not
man I hope this new one is a step up

This is so random. With that said, I can totally dig Danny as the pilot. I'm picturing him channeling his character from Tropic Thunder

I'm a sucker for a good Alien movie.. but after the letdown that was Prometheus, I'm keeping my expectations in check this time.

I'm thinking Scott takes the best of what made Prometheus good and combines that with what makes Alien/Aliens great and gets Covenant.
I think it'll be an awesome movie, and I was on the wall about Prometheus.

Yep, felt duped by Prometheus being billed as an Alien prequel (albeit while still enjoying it as a pseudo standalone), but will certainly be seeing this one - with renewed excitement.
