Animated feature set to be released in October. Adam West and Burt Ward return as the dynamic duo to go up against a foe that never made it to the '66 television series--Two-Face.
William Shatner voices Harvey Dent and Two-Face, and it's actually really impressive.
Here is a link to a story about the film and the trailer:

Can't argue with that...but I also find it a bit interesting that they are introducing Hugo Strange and Harley Quinn into the '66 timeline as well.

Harley, agreed, but Hugo Strange was Batman's actual original antagonist, even before the Joker. I think he works in this.

Burt Ward is one of the nicest people on the entire planet. I got to spend some time with him and was blown away by how friendly he was.

Man no disrespect intended to Adam West and Burt Ward as I'm sure they're fine gentleman but I just can't get can't get into the '66 Batman as its so hokey and goofy. Like I know it's not meant to be taken seriously like it's a parody of Batman but damn.
With that said, The 1966 Batman being as corny, campy and cartoonish as it was in the 60s, I would honestly love to time travel to that time and show them Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy just to see their reaction.
It would be quite the shock and such a role reversal comparing the brutal, dark and gritty Batman to the childlike, cartoonish and corny Batman. I honestly think there's a very slim but decent chance it would not be allowed in theaters. At the very least, it would be rated NC-17 or at least R.

You're right, It isn't meant to be taken seriously - it was fun and meant for kids. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. I still remember coming home from school and watching it on TBS - it brings back fond memories.

You're aware there are essentially 2 Batmen products, right? The one that D.C. (and licensees) markets to children and the one that is marketed to adults. In a way, the 1960s Batman was meant to be a hybrid product - and in doing so, they created a product appropriate for the times. This was the era of The Monkees, The Mod Squad, The Munsters, etc.
I like it. My favorite part of the entire 60s, campy Batman is the crossover with the Green Hornet. Before he was an international superstar, Bruce Lee was Kato on The Green Hornet.
Anyway the crossover had our heroes at odds with each other. Batman was to fight The Green Hornet and Robin was to fight Kato. The original script (written by Batman writers) had Robin quickly dispatching Kato. The Green Hornet folks laughed out loud, "Do they even watch our show? Kato would leave a grease spot where Robin AND Batman stood."
Good times.

one last time
This is actually the second animated movie - the first one came out last year. As a fan of the 60s show, I enjoyed it and hope they do many more.

Who would play Batman?

We're well past the point where anyone should be upset with the Adam West Batman original series. It's been fifty years. Adam West and that insanely iconic cast of villains deserve every accolade bestowed upon them.
I loved it as a kid watching in prime-time. Loved growing up watching it in syndication.

The acting talent they were able to draw for that was beyond incredible, particularly for the more throwaway villains and not the Big 6:
David Wayne (who did A LOT of that kind of stuff during the 50s and 60s and never phoned it in - amazing what he could have done on Star Trek).
Eli Wallach
Otto Preminger (both played Mr. Freeze, as did George Sanders)
Roger Carmel
Anne Baxter
Roddy McDowell
Uncle Milty
Joan Collins
Michael Rennie
Shelley Winters
Cliff Robertson
(and I'm leaving out a bunch)
Just off the charts for the time and for such a non-serious show.

The Laugh-In style window cameos were added to the show because so many celebrities asked to be included, and the schedule didn't allow for all of them to be added as story characters.

The 60s Batman series was actually an adult show. There are a ton of pop cultural references that flew right over the kids heads that were aimed at grown-ups.
