Martin Milner, who starred in the huge hit '60s and '70s show "Adam 12" -- which spawned generations of kids who wanted to become cops -- has died.

L.A. Police Chief Charlie Beck tells TMZ, "Milner's depiction of a professional and tough yet compassionate cop led to thousands of men and women applying to become LAPD officers, including me."

Milner also starred in another enormous show -- "Route 66" -- which was a big hit in the '60s.

The actor had roles on several other big hit shows, like "Columbo," "Swiss Family Robinson," "Valley of the Dolls" and "Murder She Wrote."

We're told he died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Add Judy Carne also

Judy Carne, Rowan and Martin Laugh-in's "sock it to me" girl, has died at aged 76.

Judy Carne, who has died aged 76, was a bouncy, auburn-haired British actress who won overnight fame in the 1960s as the Sock It To Me girl on the hit television show Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In; she returned, albeit briefly, to the limelight in 1985 when she published an autobiography in which she told of her volatile relationship with her first husband Burt Reynolds, confessed to a string of affairs with members of both sexes and chronicled battles with drug addiction.

I used to love Adam-12 when I was a kid.

Will never forget him and Kent McCord hi-fiving me as a child at the World of Wheels in the NO Convention center. The Batmobile was there too. Around 1975 or 76.

RIP.

ETA: I was on my dad's shoulders at the back of the crowd gathered to see them. They saw me, smiled and talked to each other, and walked to the back of the crowd to say hello. A kid never forgets something like that.

I was about to say Adam 12 and Batman are almost my first tv memories as maybe a four year old.

If you put in the Nightstalker and the Night Gallery in there, that's my first memories as well.

Loved that show as a kid. A few years ago TV Land, I believe, reran it. It was fun watching them again.

We used to imitate the radio dispatcher. "One Adam-12 we've got a two eleven in process. Handle code three."

First time I watched Southland, I thought Cooper looked a lot like Malloy from Adam-12.
