How is the movie? I haven't read the book but thinking about seeing the flick.

Pretty bad.

Corny film written for the elderly audience, peppered with a lot of cursing to bring in the younger demographic.

Redford in tons of makeup and hair coloring.

It wasn't great but I enjoyed it alright.

I haven't seen the movie, but if you've spent any time backpacking, the book is hysterical.

The book is great, but the clips I've seen from the movie look like a sad attempt to ripoff Grumpy Old Men.

Yeah, Bryson wasn't nearly as old as Redford when he wrote the book. Redford just seems miscast in the role. Nick Offerman in the starring role would probably have been a much better movie.
