Just heard an interesting tidbit on YouTube discussing Gillys baby, noting that only after Sam stabbed the white walker did they start wearing armor.

I know it's not the same walker but I had never noticed this. The book clarifies that the others are more intelligent and adaptable, but this is the first I've seen it in the show.

They got a bigger armor budget after we lost some more dire wolves.

I never really understood why the left Sam alone when he was all alone in the blizzard in season 1 or 2. Whichever it was.

The consensus explanation for this is that is was shoddy camera work and Sam wasn't actually seen by the WW, they just cut the scene in a way that made it seem like they saw him

Another theory I have is that they allowed Sam to live to show the everyone else what's coming. Like they did in the first scene of the show

Another thing I noticed is that they had a weirwood tree where Sam and Gilly were staying after leaving Crasters. A lot of thought has come up about how the white knew where they were. I think that the Night king can see through the weirwood trees like Bran and Three eyed Raven, and that's how he knew they were there.

The sad thing is that this is probably pretty close to the truth. It amazes that a show of this popularity on a network like HBO has to cut and change shite because of budget issues.

Yeah I just assumed he hid under the rock/boulder and they didn't see him...

They let Sam live to be a witness just like they let Will live in the first scene of the show. He didn't just do a good job of hiding behind a rock, nor did their whole army walk by him and not notice him.

You have to draw the line somewhere with budgets. Just because a show/movie is a success, doesnt mean you have unlimited resources.

Season 6 had a budget of $10 million per episode. The battle scene from "Battle of the Bastards" cost $10 mil alone with the episode supposedly costing $26 mil

Cant make everyone happy

I just assumed it was because the WW's were used to getting male babies as payment for letting the guy live north of the wall.

I don't buy this.

In regarding them leaving Sam alone, I thought when the episode aired everyone on the board said it was because the Walkers were establishing an army, so they saw him as a scared , worthless weakling and just moved on..
He wasn't worth the time.

So, I just accepted that

Well they've made small child aged girls into wights so I don't think they are that discriminatory about it

Also I wonder what the Night King's little sigil on his clasp means.
