I've seen it 100 times. Never realized when the mom turns the lamp off and says "don't want to waste electricity" as they leave to get a tree, every light in the house is on.

Did she or did she not use up all the glue on purpose?

The eternal Dottie question of the movie.

I didn't know until yesterday that the same guy who played Ralphie in A Christmas Story (Peter Billingsly) also plays the head elf Ming Ming in the movie Elf.

And it's totally glossed over in the movie...Ralphie is still the good guy.

He name-drops Schwartz to get his B.B. gun ("even though Schwartz is getting one.")

His friend got the shite kicked out of him...you can hear it on the phone...and Ralphie's mom just hangs up and Ralphie never feels guilty about it. All he says is while crying over soap in his mouth is..."over there, Schwartz was getting his."

Schwartz definitely needed Ralphie out of his life.

Also, the movie is supposedly set in Indiana in the 40s, yet the school was fully integrated?

There's a reference to 1939 stuff and sports.

And references to stuff that couldn't have happened until 1943.

Regardless its war era.
