We are getting a group to go to new Yankee Stadium for a day game the summer.

Does anyone know what would be the best place to sit from a perspective of being in the shade?

We'd prefer not to bake in the sun all day.

From Google maps, it appears that the best place to sit would be along the third base line, in the 200-sections, with the highest row number as possible.

But, I'm hoping one of you is more familiar with the place.

Any suggestions?

Take your shirt off, get a tan, and enjoy the game!

Make sure you don't get screwed into buying the crappy arse outfield seats that have half the field obstructed by a friggin sports bar.

I went twice in 09. The Yankees won both games.

No one in the damn family wanted to go again so I went up to tha Bronx by myself that night. Like a boss.

There is virtually no shade during a day game unless you sit in the last few rows of the upper deck.

Way up behind home plate will be pretty inexpensive, and there'll be shade for most of the game.

You say you don't want to bake in the sun "all day," so I assume that you don't mind a few innings of sun. Anywhere on the west side of the stadium will be in the shade for at least part of the game. You're right that high up in the 200's is in the shade the whole time, but if you want some sun, sit down low in the 200's or go to the 400 sections and sit relatively low.

The Google Maps image that you can see was taken in the morning, so just imagine that the shadows are the exact opposite as they are in the pic.

But really, anybody who doesn't want to bake in the sun all day shouldn't go to an outdoor baseball game on a summer day. Are you going with a bunch of women who just look for a reason to bitch?

After I posted this, I found a really good site that not only gives you a 3D version from whatever seat location you want to put in, but also gives you the shade areas --

Yankee Stadium 3D version with shade indications....

There's a tab for "Daylight Views" in the upper left. It shows where the shade is in May and June for 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. so you can see how the shade covers the field. Pretty damn neat.

And, yes, for purposes of baking in the side, this white boy is a pussy.

Not really a bad seat in there. I've enjoyed some times in the bleachers
