My mind is more blown by the fact that everyone can't accept the fact that he was out of view of the camera, behind the players/other ref. Not that confusing

if you look carefully, right before he pops in you can see the edge of his helmet behind 88's right shoulder.
My only explanation is he must have been crouching or on the ground and popped up.
This is like quick change where you know something is up but you can't figure it out
